What is Sooji Halwa?

Sooji Halwa is a semolina (sooji) based Indian Sweet dish. We can be made by using only four ingredients. Suji ka halwa is usually made on any festivals or pooja. There are many variations in sooji ka halwa recipe and the name of this dish. This is an excellent recipe as it follows a simple ratio and it works great. Sooji:sugar:water in 1:2:4 ratio. For example in Maharashtra, it is called sheera, in South India it is flavoured with some saffron and is called rava kesari and in North India, it is called Sooji Halwa. Sooji Ka Halwa calls for

Semolina – I have used regular semolina.
Other Ingredients -In sooji halwa recipe there are many variations. You can use milk in the place of water. You can use dry fruits according to your choice.

How to make Suji ka Halwa

1. Heat 1/4 cup ghee in a kadai or fry pan.

2. Add 1 cup Sooji (Rava).

3.Stir it and cook till aromatic.

4. We are not looking for much change of colour.

5. Add 4 cups water. And let it come to a good boil.

6. Add 2 cups sugar.

Sooji Halwa

7. Mix well, cook.

8. Stir continuously.

9. Keep the gas flame on medium.

10. Cook till becomes thicker.

11. Halwa is done when it leaves the sides and ghee oozes out.
