Pav slit and stuffed with magic and cooked to make one of the most delectable Indian snacks is dabeli. One bite of it into your mouth and your mouth bursts with flavors. Dabeli is one of the best Indian snacks and this is the best recipe for it. Something so good calls for little preparation. Dabeli gets its heat from a few Indian spices which combine to make dabeli masala. It gets its bite from the roasted masala peanuts. A couple of chutney recipes are an integral part of dabeli recipe.
Dabeli can jazz up your tea time and if you love it the way I do, it can be a dinner recipe or lunch recipe too.
Dabeli is a combination of a few recipes. It is a potato recipe as boiled potatoes form the base of the stuffing, the divine stuffing. Let’s have a look at the required ingredients:
Pav: Ladi pav is what I used for my dabeli. These were not very thick so stuffing them was easier.
Boiled potatoes: Boiled and mashed potatoes are combined with a couple of more ingredients to make the most delicious stuffing. The interesting part is that the regular Indian spices such as red chili powder, turmeric powder, etc are not added in the potato stuffing.
Dabeli masala: A handful of Indian spices are combined and they make the dabeli so flavorful and peppery.
Tamarind Date Chutney: No, this is not applied to the pav. It is added to the potato stuffing.
Roasted masala Peanuts: This is not optional. Not at all! Peanuts are mandatory for the dabeli recipe. You can use the readymade ones but these are just too perfect for the dabeli recipe.
Other ingredients: Few fresh ingredients such as coriander, onions, and pomegranate are used for the recipe. Red garlic chutney adds a nice flavor. And the final look is achieved with the help of nylon sev.
You talk about bread recipes, especially sandwich recipes and these are everyone’s favorite. And if you talk about pav recipes we have a number of recipes on the blog which are pav pakora, masala pav, vada pav, pav sandwich etc.
