Namkeen Chaat Recipe | How to Make Namkeen Chaat

What is Namkeen Chaat?

Namkeen is one of the most popular snacks which is munched upon at the tea time or to settle the hunger pangs. It is a deep-fried, crispy snack made with gram flour. When namkeen is taken to another level by adding chopped onions, tomatoes, and by spicing it up with chaat masala, etc. it becomes namkeen chaat and the munching snack becomes a party starter. It can be served at tea time or even as a party appetizer.

Let’s talk about the ingredients for Namkeen Chaat Recipe

Quick snacks are so much loved by everyone. There is a spell, post-lunch and before dinner, i.e. the tea time. And what better than a quick snack to go with the cup of hot tea, which is fuss-free to make. Especially with kids, such recipes are much in demand. You might like Monaco sandwich, idli fries, etc.

To make namkeen chaat you need the following:

Namkeen: I have used the Bikaneri bhujia by Haldiram for namkeen chaats. You can use any namkeen that you like. If you are making it for kids you can pick the non-spicy version of namkeen of your kids’ choice. Further you can also use this recipe to make aloo bhujia chaat. Aloo bhujia is a great choice for the namkeen chaat recipe.

Fresh Ingredients: Chopped onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves, mint leaves, and lemon juice are used to add flavor and bite to the chaat.

Spices: Chaat masala and very little red chili powder are used to spice up the namkeen chaat. No salt has been added as chaat masala has enough salt.

Namkeen is generally always there in the Indian pantry. And the same can be used to prepare a number of recipes such as sev tamatar, bhujia raita, etc. Even stuffed paratha can be prepared with namkeen or aloo bhujia. I often make it for my kids. I shall soon post its recipe on the blog.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
