Eggless Aata Cake Recipe | How to Make Eggless Atta Cake

What!? This is atta cake! What ratio of whole wheat flour and all purpose? What!? 100% whole wheat flour!
These were the reactions when I first made and served the Eggless Aata Cake Recipe. And these were my reactions to those reactions. Is there any word for reaction for reaction or does it become a new action?!. Anyways going back to Atta cake.

Atta cake is made up of whole wheat flour without any all purpose flour. It’s light, spongy and delicious.

I found this cake made with wheat flour recipes here.  The method used in this recipe is very distinct and the moment I saw it I was keen to try it. Eggless cake recipe is yummy and delicious in taste.
I have flavored the cake with vanilla but you can also use cardamom, cinnamon, desiccated coconut and so on.

Eggless Aata Cake Recipe

INGREDIENTS FOR ATTA CAKE

  • 1 cup or 120g whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup or 125 g condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or 1/2 vanilla pod
  • 1/3 cup heaped or 80 g butter (chilled)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 tbsp sugar

How to Make Eggless Aata Cake Recipe

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180⁰C (160⁰C in case of convection/fan ovens). Prepare the cake pan. Collect all the ingredients.EGGLESS ATTA CAKE (1)
  2. Sieve together 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1/2 tsp baking powder.EGGLESS ATTA CAKE (2)
  3. Add 1/2 cup condensed milk.

  4. Add 1/ 2 of the vanilla pod.EGGLESS ATTA CAKE (4)
  5. Leave it. Do mix it at this stage.

  6. In a pan take heaped 1/3 cup butter.EGGLESS ATTA CAKE (6)
  7. Add 1/2 cup water.EGGLESS ATTA CAKE (7)
  8. Add 4 tbsp sugar.

  10. Till it comes to a boil.

  12. Mix very gently.

  13. Do not over-mix. A few lumps are okay.EGGLESS ATTA CAKE (13)
  14. Bake at 180⁰C C (160⁰C in case of convection/fan ovens) for 25-30 minutes. or till the cake is done. Once it’s done take it out of the oven and let it cool. Demould and cut into pieces.
