Healthy Veggie Shots Recipe | How to make Healthy Veggie shots

Healthy Veggie Shots Recipe – Let the party begin According to Wikipedia Well… as expected, he doesn’t know Healthy Veggie Shots. I don’t blame him for this. The dish was originally called Hariyali Aloo (though Wiki doesn’t know that also, but its okay). I prepared it with different vegetables and paneer instead of aloo so I like to call it Healthy Veggie Shots instead of Hariyali Aloo.

According to Vinipedia

Assorted vegetables and paneer coated with a tangy green marinade of coriander and mint grilled to make an easy and awesome snack!

Starting the party made easy… you know what I mean. I mean an easy party starter.

Let’s talk Veggie Shots Recipe

I came across this recipe very casually  and after watching it… I was like am making it right away! It was so simple and inviting. I found the recipe here.

The original recipe calls for potatoes but I used assorted vegetables and paneer. And “paneer” turned out to be the show stopper. The softness of paneer with the tanginess of the marinade was a big hit.

It has a very simple marinade that is actually coriander mint chutney with a special ingredient that helps marinade to get coated on the vegetables and paneer. What’s the special ingredient… take a guess… till you reach the ingredients. No please don’t jump to the ingredients list… be a sport!!

You can customize marinade as per your taste. At times I use the the vegetables and green chutney already lying in my refrigerator plus that secret ingredient and make these shots.

I used potatoes, paneer, tomatoes, green bell peppers and onions. You can use any vegetables of your choice.

For the best result use soft and spongy paneer.

The Beauty of Healthy Veggie Shots

-Simple and quick to make

The Beast (the difficult part about this recipe)

Healthy vegetable shots, if they turn left as in they don’t turn right, following could happen:-

  • The marinade might not stick to the vegetables and paneer
  • The dish might turn dry

Experiments and experience (tips and tricks)

  • Add the secret ingredient to the marinade so that it coats properly.
  • You can brush some butter on the grilled vegetables
  • Don’t forget to soak the wooden skewers in water
  • Season the shots with chaat masala and lemon juice

Let’s just talk

Blogging… not just makes me experiment different and new recipes but also improves my vocabulary. Had it not been for this blog, it would have never penned down the recipes and would have never known the correct spelling of MARINADE.

Yeah seriously, while writing the post I used the word “marinate”,  Mr. M.S. Word (Hey you share your initials with my favourite cricketer… M.S. Dhoni) interfered. I replaced the word “marinate” with the word “marination”. It again had an objection. And the suggestions it gave didn’t help me much.

Finally guess who came to my rescue. “Wikipedia”. Yes, he cleared all my doubts and confusions. He told me it is MARINADE. And also told me what marinate and marination are!

So basically, marination is a process in which we marinate the vegetables in a marinade.
