Dalgona Coffee

It is in March 2020. The world is hit by Covid 19 and dalgona coffee. Dalgona Coffee, a version of cold coffee that has the layer of coffee froth on iced milk. It is supposed to be mixed and sipped. Instant coffee powder, white granulated sugar and hot water are added in the same proportion and whisked, technically, 400 times and practically much more than that :). I had whisked the coffee and sugar mixture until it was thick and very light and technically had soft peaks. This whipped coffee definitely involves some muscle work and is therefore ideal to involve the family members who are all around due to lockdown.

Dalgona Coffee- Ingredients required

Instant Coffee Powder: You can use any coffee powder of your choice. Even the flavored coffee powdered work great for making the whipped coffee. I have used hazelnut flavored coffee.

White Granulated Sugar: Dalgona Coffee calls for the 3 basic ingredients in the same proportion. As a result, one tablespoon of coffee powder is to make 1 glass of this coffee and the same is sweetened using 1 tbsp of sugar, which is not sweet enough for me. However, if I had added more sugar, the color of my coffee froth would have been light. Therefore I had added simple sugar syrup in the milk to make it appropriately sweet.

Hot Water: As such this whipped coffee calls for adding the whole of hot water initially while making the coffee. However, I have added hot water gradually. It makes things easier and better.

Milk: If looking for a vegan version, you can use almond milk to make the whipped coffee.

Ice: Adding ice cubes is totally optional. You can skip it if the milk is cold enough for your liking.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
