Smooth and nutty and tangy sauce with the hint of garlic made using sesame seeds, along with lemon is tahini sauce. Tahini sauce is basically made with tahini or tahini paste. Tahini paste is nothing but roasted sesame seeds ground with olive oil. Tahini is commonly used in Mediterranean and Middle East cuisine. Tahini can be used in a number of ways, i.e. for making tahini sauce, tahini dressing and so in. This is the Tahini Sauce recipe. It is very simple and easy to make. Tahini Sauce Recipe- Ingredients for Tahini Sauce

Tahini: Good quality sesame seeds should be roasted and ground. Olive oil is added to make a paste. The quantity of olive oil required to make Tahini paste might vary according to the blender being used. If you blend using a strong blender, you will get a smooth sauce with less oil. 2 cups of sesame seeds make 1 cup of tahini. And 1 cup of tahini makes 2 cups of tahini sauce. Simple Math!

Lemon Juice: Juice of fresh lemons adds a lot of taste to the tahini sauce.

Garlic: Minced garlic is added for its pungency.

Possible Variations of Tahini Sauce:

Herbed Tahini Sauce: Along with the other ingredients, also add in a handful of your favorite herbs such as parsley, cilantro or coriander, etc.

Garlicky Tahini Sauce: Simple, add in a little more of garlic than mentioned. For better taste, it is better to use roasted garlic.

Spicy Tahini Sauce: Also add in red chili powder or red chili flakes for the kick.

Chilly Tahini Sauce: A handful of green chilies can be added for making chilly tahini sauce.

Following points should be kept in mind to make the best Tahini Sauce:

1. Do not skip roasting the sesame seeds.

2. Adjust the flavoring ingredients as per your liking.

3. Grind till absolutely smooth.

1.This recipe makes 1 cup of tahini sauce.

2.Add 2 cups of sesame seeds (til) in a pan.

3.Dry roast on a low flame till the sesame seeds turn golden.

4.Let the seeds cool to the room temperature. Transfer into a grinding jar.

5.Grind.

6.Add 3 tbsp of olive oil.

7.Grind to make a smooth paste. This is tahini paste.

8.Next add in ½ tsp of finely chopped garlic, salt to taste, ½ tsp cumin powder, ¼ cup of lemon juice and water, as much required.

9.Blend everything till smooth. Check and adjust the seasoning and consistency.
