Chaat Recipes | Indian Chaat Recipes | Top Chaat Recipes

Chaat, this name makes me and many, craving for it. A mouthwatering combination of well-whisked yogurt, some chutneys, few spices and lots of garnishing with the main ingredient, which could be anything, papdi, boiled and fried potatoes, crispy palak pakoras, sprouts or anything is chaat. It has an array of flavors, can be customized and served in a number of ways.

Tips to make perfect chaat:

  1. The most important thing is to get the basics correct. Perfectly balanced chaat masala and chutneys with right taste and consistency are the basics for any chaat that you plan to make. The recipes for these items mentioned in this post are the tried and tested ones. Do try them.
  2. Most of the chaat recipes call for yogurt. The key is to whisk it well. It should be absolutely smooth. The perfect consistency of yogurt is also important. It should not be too thin otherwise the chaat becomes too soggy. Also, little sugar should be added to infuse slight sweetness in yogurt.
  3. The garnishing should be separately seasoned. It is a good idea to season each ingredient separately with the spices. This ensures that each bite bursts with flavors.
  4. The chaat should be perfectly balanced. And the term perfect balance is subjective, some like it sweeter (like me) some like it spicier and some might like it tangier. Therefore the chaat should be tested and adjusted.
  5. Chaat has all many liquid ingredients. Therefore it should be served immediately.

How to serve chaat?

  • Chaat can be served as an appetizer. It is very convenient to do all the preparations much before time. At the time of serving it just needs to be assembled.
  • Chaat can be served to the weight watchers as it includes healthy ingredients. Further using khaman, sprouts, as the base for chaat can work better.
  • Assorted chaat can be a fully fledged party menu or meal.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
