Milkshake Recipes Without Ice Cream

A milkshake can be said to be a combination of milk, sweetener and flavoring agent, such as fruits, nuts, syrups, extracts, etc. During summers milkshake is a bliss. It is not only perfect for breakfast but a filing and rich milkshake can be a light meal on a hot day. Milkshakes are loved by one and all, from kids to adults. The best part about milkshake recipes is that each ingredient can be customized as per your choice.

How to make variations of milkshakes?

  • The base of milkshake can be ice cream, or any kind of milk dairy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, etc.
  • To flavor, the milkshake fruits can be used. However, as per Ayurveda, the only fruit compatible with milk is Mango (good as well as bad news!). Good because my favorite milkshake just made a narrow escape and sad because the others couldn’t! But no worries, for other fruits, almond milk/coconut milk can be used. Till last year I did not know this and so the banana milkshake recipe has dairy milk.
  • Likewise, there are lots of options for adding sweetness to milkshakes i.e. jaggery sugar, coconut sugar, unrefined sugar and the most common one is granulated sugar. However, I use sugar syrup. It is a quick and simple to make and with this simple syrup the milkshake recipes get simpler and easier.
  • Add ons: Milkshakes are loved by the kids too. To make them more lovable it is a good idea to pep up milkshakes with sprinkles, nuts, syrups, etc.

Tips to make perfect milkshake:

If following simple things are kept in mind you will always end up with a glass of delectable milkshake:

  • Your milkshake will be as good as the ingredients that you use. There isn’t much that recipes can do in case of milkshake, ingredients have more responsibility here. Use full cream milk for richer milkshakes, fresh and seasonal fruits, extracts instead of essence and so on.
  • I have experienced this that if milk has a sweetener it should not be refrigerated. Especially if it is a fruit-based milkshake. Thus milkshakes should be prepared and consumed and not refrigerated.
  • It is important to blend the milkshake well to make it frothy and creamy. At the same time, it is important not to over-do it, otherwise, the milkshake becomes buttery, especially if full cream milk or heavy cream has been used.
  • There are a number of ways to increase the thickness and creaminess of milkshakes without adding ice cream. One of them has been shared in vanilla milkshake without ice cream recipe. And others shall follow soon.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
