Simple Dinner Recipes

Of all the things I love about my country, varsity of food is one of my favorite. Something as kadhi changes as you move from one state to another. Okay if you are not impressed yet, khichadi, something as simple as khichadi differs state wise. Here, I am sharing a soulful yet simple dinner recipes, which includes Gujarati Kadhi, Gujarati Khichadi, and Jeera Aloo. One day I have had a busy day and thought I won’t relish my dinner, whatever it may be. I did not have much energy and time to cook also, so I prepared this combination. And you won’t believe it was so satiating!! It has become one of our favorite weekday dinner combination. Everyone in the family relishes it because one may or may not like khichadi but he or she is a kadhi fan and enjoys khichadi with kadhi and jeera aloo.simple dinner recipes

Simple Dinner Recipes:

Gujarati Khichadi, Gujarati Kadhi, and Jeera Aloo

Gujarati Khichdi:

If you feel khichadi is the food for toddlers or people with a bad stomach, have a bowl of Gujarati Khichadi. Your notion for khichdi will change. What I love the most about it is its consistency. It is not runny or kind of liquidy as khichdi generally is.  Tempering prepared with a couple of garlic cloves make a big difference, you have to try it to believe it.

Gujarati Kadhi:

The reason why Gujarati khichadi has a thick consistency is Gujarati kadhi, so that it can be relished with Gujarati Kadhi. Disclaimer: The last statement is merely my belief, no supporting evidence or data has ever been found or will ever be found. (HAHA)!! Anyways Gujarati kadhi is a mildly tangy, mildly sweet but perfectly balanced. And goes excellently well with Gujarati Khichdi.

Jeera Aloo:

We all make and love jeera aloo. I too had been making it for years but at times they would turn lip smacking and at times hopeless. My mom told me a few things which should be kept in mind while using boiled potatoes for any recipe. The same has been explained in the post and the recipe too is great. Do try it.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
