What is veg lollipop?

Veg lollipop is crisp and crunchy ball shaped snack made with vegetables. It has the bite of onions, cabbage, carrot, capsicum; the sharpness of ginger garlic paste, garam masala, black pepper powder and the kick of chaat masala. Veg lollipop is a great party starter as it is one bite snack, so is loved by the guests and is easy to prepare and serve, so is loved by the host. Since veg lollipops are absolute cuties, they also make an easy snack recipe for kids.

Veggie lollipops calls for lots of vegetables, exactly as its name suggested. Crunchy vegetables i.e. cabbage, carrot, capsicum, onions have been used and to bind them boiled potatoes are used. Ginger garlic paste makes veggie lollipops very flavourful. Vegetable lollipop recipe calls for dipping the vegetable balls in slurry and then coating them in bread crumbs. It gives the required and awesome crunch to the veg lollipop.

How To Make Veg Lollipops

1. In a mixing bowl add ¼ cup finely chopped cabbage, ¼ cup finely chopped carrot, ¼ cup finely chopped capsicum.(Tip: Use a vegetable chopper for best results).

2. Add ¼ cup finely chopped coriander leaves.

3. Add ¼ cup finely chopped onion.

4. Add 3 boiled and grated potatoes.

5. Add ½ cup bread crumbs. (Tip: You can use rice flour, corn starch or roasted gram flour instead of bread crumbs).

6. Add dry spices i.e. ½ tsp red chili powder, ½ tsp garam masala powder, ½ tsp black pepper powder, ½ tsp chaat masala powder, ½ tsp ginger garlic paste and salt to taste.

7. Mix everything well and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. (Tip: If the mixture appears sticky or non workable, add in more rice flour, bread crumbs etc.).

8. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning if required.

9. Shape the mixture into small balls.

10. Mix 2 tbsp gram flour and 4 tbsp water into a lump free mixture.

11. Dip the veggie ball in prepared slurry.

12. Coat with bread crumbs.

13. Fry them in hot oil till they turn golden brown.

14. Insert a toothpick.

15. Serve veggie lollipop hot with tandoori chutney or tomato ketchup. Bon appétit.
