Coleslaw Sandwich Recipe | How to Make Classic Coleslaw Sandwich

What is Coleslaw Sandwich?

It is a healthy, easy and quick sandwich. Not to forget it is delicious too. Coleslaw is a salad made up of vegetables i.e. cabbage and carrot and mayonnaise. Perfect coleslaw sandwich needs perfect coleslaw. And a perfect coleslaw depends upon the correct proportions of the ingredients and yes, this recipe has them.

Let’s talk about the ingredients for Coleslaw Sandwich Recipe

I have gone for the classic coleslaw salad for the sandwich consisting of cabbage, carrot and mayonnaise dressing. You can use red cabbage or red and green both. You can add other vegetables such as capsicum, onions, sweet corn, peas etc. For the flavouring, you can add oregano, thyme, chilli flakes etc. You can also add some cheese spread or a cheese slice.

Other cabbage recipeon the blog is cabbage kofta curry. A distinct gravy recipe. Find it here. Also check our collection of sandwich recipes. Please click >here for the same.

How to Make Coleslaw Sandwich

1. Prepare the coleslaw salad : In a bowl add 3/4 cup shredded cabbage, 3/4 cup shredded carrot, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, a pinch of salt, 1/4 tsp sugar and 1 tsp vinegar.

Tips:Do not grate the cabbage. Use shredded cabbage for a crunchy coleslaw. For carrot, you can either cut them thin as matchsticks or shred them thick and long using a food processor or grater.

2. Butter bread slices : Apply butter on the bread slices.

Tips:Buttering the slices prevents the sandwich from getting soggy.

3. Apply coleslaw salad : Take approximately 1/4 cup coleslaw salad and spread on the bread slice. Cover with another bread slice. Cut diagonally or horizontally or vertically ?

4. Bon appétit : For best results chill the sandwiches for an hour before serving. You can also grill the sandwiches if you want to have the best coleslaw, though they won’t be the classics.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
