Apple Halwa Recipe | How to make Apple Halwa

Apple Halwa Recipe

A very simple dessert prepared using apple, sugar, ghee, and mawa with the hint of cinnamon is apple ka halwa. Apple halwa is a very refreshing dessert. Although prepared using mawa and ghee, it does not feel very heavy or filling. It has the pronouncing flavor of apple which is enhanced by cinnamon to make an absolutely delish dessert. Other than this, it gives a good break from the halwa recipes regularly prepared in the Indian kitchens such as sooji ka halwa, atta halwa, etc and many seasonal halwa such as gajar ka halwa, lauki ka halwa, beetroot halwa etc. It can be served as a dessert or can be prepared very quickly to satisfy the sweet hunger pangs. In this blog you will find apple halwa recipe along with step by step pictures.

Apple Halwa Recipe- Ingredients required

Apples: Yes, it is obvious that apples are needed to make apple halwa. It is very important that the apples with thin and soft skin are chosen. This is because, for the apple halwa recipe, the whole of apple is used i.e. with skin. However, if the skin of apples is thick and hard, peel and use the apple. I have grated the apple, you can chop it too. If you’d like the chunks of apple, chop it and for a smoother texture, grate the apples using the thick blade.

Ghee: Ghee is a very important ingredient and cannot be replaced with oil. Ghee adds a lot of flavor to apple halwa. Do not cut down the quantity of ghee.

Sugar: Sugar for sweetness and it can be adjusted as per your liking.

Cinnamon Powder: I am a big fan of apple and cinnamon combination. And therefore I have flavored the apple halwa with some cinnamon powder. You can use cardamom powder or saffron etc to flavor apple halwa.

Mawa: To enhance the richness of this halwa, mawa has been added. It gives a wonderful texture to the halwa. However if you do not want to add this, you can skip it.

Food coloring: I have not used any food color. You can use saffron color for some vibrancy.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
