What is Aloo Chaat?

Crisp and crunchy potatoes topped with tangy and sweet tamarind chutney, spicy and refreshing coriander chutney, with the bite of chopped onions, juicy tomatoes is aloo chaat. This aloo chaat recipe cooks potatoes in a very different manner. And the result is such crispy potatoes!! Aloo chaat can be prepared as a party starter or to settle the evening hunger pangs.

I have used baby potatoes for chatpati aloo chaat recipe. I always have few things in my refrigerator i.e. chutneys for chaat, chaat masala, and boiled potatoes. With these things readily available Aloo Chaat Recipe is pretty easy and quick to fix. I have mentioned the quantity of chutneys and spices as per my liking. The same can be adjusted as per your taste.

How to make Aloo Chaat

1. Boil baby potatoes till parboiled stage. As in do not over boil them, they should be just boiled.

2. While the potatoes are warm, peel them. Use a bowl and apply little pressure and press them or press them between your palms.

3. Heat enough oil. Add in salt. Put potatoes in it.

4. Fry on medium flame.

5. Fry till potatoes are golden brown.

6. To make aloo chaat, take fried potatoes in the serving bowl.

7. Add chutneys for chaat, chaat masala, and roasted cumin seeds powder. Toss it up. Top it with chopped onions, tomatoes and coriander leaves. Finish off with more chaat masala and a hint of red chili powder.
